Cafe Hiro is a fushion between Japanese, Italian, and French. They are famous for their Sea Urchin (Uni) spaghetti. The spaghetti noodles is mixed with Sea Urchin (Uni), a creamy pasta sauce, wasabi, and topped with seaweed.
The first time I went to Cafe Hiro was during lunch time with a small group of coworkers. We arrived at 11:30 when Hiro is open for lunch.
Inside the cafe is decorated with some art pieces and the walls are painted with clouds and a blue sky to resemble an outside dining area. The cafe is a bit small so don’t be afraid to snuggle up with your neighbors. Kidding, you get enough elbow room between tables. The waitresses are also very friendly and helpful if you have any questions regarding a particular dish.
My coworkers suggests I try something on the seasonal menu because it is only there for a limited time and the Sea Urchin pasta is a permanent signature dish on their menu for both lunch and dinner.
I chose the Poke bowl which was one of the entrees off of their daily special menu. During lunch time, any entree you order comes with a side salad and soup.
Salad with Miso Dressing.
Pumpkin Puree garnished with torilla chips
There wasn’t anything special about the side salad but the pumpkin puree was awesome sauce!
The Main Course
You can order the poke bowl one of two ways, spicy or not spicy. I needed a kick so I went with spicy. The poke bowl is made with big chunks of tuna fish mixed with Japanese mayonnaise, sliced red onions, garnished with green onions and seaweed on top of a bed of sushi rice. The dish was accompanied by two sides, scalloped potatoes and pasta salad.
Needless to say, I inhaled my food. It was really delicious. You get a good amount of tuna chunks and I love the addition of the red onions. Cafe Hiro turned a regular spicy tuna bowl into a gourmet lunch. I left the cafe with a full and satisfied tummy. Overall my lunch experience at Hiro was amazing.
Would I go again?
The answer is a definite yes!
